Lifecard App Proudly Partners with Diabetes Victoria

Written by Global Health | April 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM

A new partnership between Global Health and Diabetes Victoria will showcase how the Lifecard app can empower and support Victorians living with diabetes. One in four Australian adults over the age of 25 years either have diabetes or have impaired glucose metabolism.

With no cure, an app such as Lifecard can significantly assist with maintaining a healthy lifestyle and can help the management of diabetes to reduce the risk of developing additional complications.

The partnership, which is being officially launched at Diabetes Victoria’s Diabetes Expo this Saturday, will assist in supporting and empowering those living with diabetes. The Lifecard app provides flexible and practical functionality to manage health records, documents, appointments, medications referrals and more.

Courtney Angel, Lifecard’s product manager, says the Lifecard app assists those managing chronic conditions by giving them a tool to manage their own health.

“The app has been designed to give the end-user control of their own health,” says Courtney. “We believe increased participation of people living with diabetes and other chronic health conditions is key to achieving better health outcomes overall,” says Ms Angel.

“It is fantastic to be in partnership with an organisation like Diabetes Victoria who also believes that giving people tools like Lifecard is essential in managing diabetes and assisting in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.”

Benefits of the Lifecard app are:

  • Users are in control of their health conditions.
  • Users have the ability to receive and share valuable information such as management plans, diagnostic results, assessments and medications securely with healthcare providers via ReferralNet and Argus secure message delivery
  • Users can share their records with family members and carers.

More than 330,000 Victorians are living with diabetes, with almost 80 new cases diagnosed every day.

Diabetes Victoria supports, empowers and campaigns for all Victorians affected by, or at risk of, diabetes.

The Lifecard app is free and available for download via the Apple App or Google Play Stores. Users can choose to subscribe to specific modules, like Diabetes Care, for $2.50 a month.
