Australian Healthcare Software provider Global Health Limited (ASX: GLH) (“Global Health” or “Company”) is pleased to announce the commencement of a partnership with the Glen Eira Football and Netball Club

The partnership will see the company’s Lifecard Consumer Health SaaS platform bundled with the Company’s MasterCare+ for Sports Teams SaaS package used at Glen Eira FNC as an early adopter for the Australian community sports sector.

  • 58,000 Australians are hospitalised each year for sports injuries. 1 in 10 are life-threatening
  • The market for sports & physical recreation clubs in Australia is estimated to be worth approximately $3.6 billion
  • Over 20% of Australians engage in sport at least three times per week across Australia’s 70,000 sporting clubs
  • The big push in this sector to digitise the health of participants

Each year over 58,000 Australian’s is hospitalised for sports injuries of which 1-in-10 are life-threatening. Most injuries are in people under the age of 25 where sports injuries represent 16% of hospital admissions for children and 26% for adolescents. While there is emerging momentum for good practice in sports injury management, there is still much progress to be made.

As part of an initial pilot rollout, Glen Eira FNC’s trainers and physio teams will use Global Health’s MasterCare+ platform to store, access, and manage health records for the club’s players. Critical player information such as allergies, next-of-kin contacts, medications and other relevant medical histories will be maintained on the platform so it can be accessed during a medical emergency. They will also add MasterCare+ to document injuries and treatment provided by club trainers at training or on match-day.

Players at Glen Eira FNC will be provided with Global Health’s Lifecard Personal Health Record to manage their own personal health records and control what information they wish to share with the club trainers. Players can also give permission for parents or guardians to access and manage their Lifecard account and remain up to date on any notes made by Glen Eira FNC trainers. Trainers will be able to send any notes or comments about a player’s injury directly to the player's Lifecard account as well as use ReferralNet Secure Messaging to send summaries to the player’s nominated external healthcare professional(s).

Both MasterCare+ and Lifecard are accessible anywhere, anytime from mobile or tablet devices, giving club trainers instant access to critical health information when and where it is needed.

The market for sports and physical recreation clubs in Australia is estimated to be worth approximately $3.6 billion with over 18 million adults and 3.5 million children engaging in sport at least once per week across Australia’s 70,000 sporting clubs. Over 20% of Australians engage in sports or physical activity at least 3 times per week.

Glen Eira is typical of the pedigree of the club in which Global Health will be targeting, and the first of many clubs the company believes will make a shift toward digitising the health of their players.

“Our club understands that we are the first responders to many serious injuries for our players such as fractures, tears and concussions. The care and treatment of our players need to be our primary concern each time they pull on our club jumper,” said Ivan Delac, President of Glen Eira FNC.

“This is an exciting new opportunity for the community sports sector and it’s time that sporting clubs and organisations understood the critical role we can play in looking after the health and wellbeing of our players. For our younger players, it’s about giving their parents and families the comfort that our club is doing our best to protect their loved ones.”

Located within the South East Bayside region of Victoria, Glen Eira FNC is currently home to over 1,500 members and 40 volunteers who help the club field over 200 senior men’s and women’s players across both AFL and Netball codes every week.

Global Health CEO Mathew Cherian is delighted with the opportunity this partnership symbolises. “We’re really excited to see our applications supporting grassroots sporting communities. This is a fantastic application of our technology and one that will allow us to provide sporting clubs across Australia with access to innovative and world-class health management technology centred on the individual yet connected to the wider healthcare community of providers.”

The MasterCare+ for Sports Teams configuration is ready for any community sporting club looking to take the necessary steps to improve injury management practices at their club. As a SaaS solution, clubs can register and start using the technology in a matter of minutes.

Lifecard can connect consumers with their care team and empower them to work with their trainers and specialists to better manage their own health. Integrated with Global Health’s ReferralNet, subscribers can receive health and medical information from trainers and other health professionals directly into their Lifecard Personal Health Record.

The Lifecard application is free for consumers and available for download via the Apple App or Google Play stores with some third-party content and modules available for additional fees.
