The Royal Children’s Hospital is now sending discharge summaries electronically

Written by Global Health | May 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM

The RCH is using the ReferralNet secure message delivery platform from Global Health, to send electronic discharge summaries to other healthcare providers. ReferralNet is one of the major NEHTA compliant SMD platforms in Australia.

If you have ReferralNet installed at your practice, you don’t have to do anything further. RCH’s discharge summaries will be delivered electronically (in a secure format) as part of their normal practice.

If you are a practice that is not currently enrolled in the ReferralNet network, we encourage you to join. There is no initial cost for the installation or to receive messages from RCH. You may choose to extend your subscription to send and receive messages external to RCH by paying a flat annual subscription.

(Please note to receive messages this way your National Health Services Directory – previously Human Services Directory – details will need to be up to date and match your ReferralNet details at http://www.nhsd.com.au/ or http://humanservicesdirectory.vic.gov.au/Home.aspx)

About ReferralNet Messaging:
ReferralNet Messaging is a secure web-based application for the exchange of clinical and patient information between healthcare providers. It meets NEHTA’s SMD standards and uses PKI encryption technology that guarantee messages are transmitted securely.

It can be integrated with your clinical system or plug into MS Word.
