25 Mar Global Health Supporting St Kilda’s Mental Health Initiative: Spud’s Game

Danny ‘Spud’ Frawley was a respected member of the AFL community and was one who set out to destigmatise mental health issues. In tribute to Spud, St Kilda Football Club has committed to honouring his legacy at the St Kilda v Melbourne game on the 27th of March 2021.

Mental health affects 1 in 5 Australians. St Kilda Football Club has set out to change the narrative. Spud’s Game: Time 2 Talk is an initiative aimed at early intervention in light of mental health issues and aims to raise funds to support the Danny Frawley Health and Wellbeing Centre and Movember’s Ahead of the Game program.

Global Health has committed to donating $10,000 to support Spud’s Game: Time 2 Talk. Having the opportunity to support this mental health initiative is an honour for Global Health as it aligns with the values we hold dear and provides an opportunity to give back to the wider community.

This donation will go towards Movember’s continuation of the Ahead of the Game program and support the new Danny Frawley Health and Wellbeing centre to provide the community with consulting suites for service providers, shared work areas for program development and research, a community education room for prevention and training programs as well as casual meeting spaces for facility users.

Spud’s Game: Time 2 Talk is an important initiative in raising funds and awareness for mental health. The game aims to encourage open and honest conversations with your mates, family, colleagues or teammates. This game promotes a connected community and is fighting to lower the prevalence of mental health issues in Australia.

Spud’s Game will not only include a tribute to the late Danny Frawley but chances to interact on the day.

Global Health is proud to support such an amazing cause that is working towards a better future for our community. All funds raised will support mental health programs through the Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing and Movember’s Ahead of the Game.

Global Health’s personal health record app, Lifecard, offers a digital solution to managing your health from the palm of your hand. Lifecard can be used within the sporting community to better help athletes, coaches and training staff to assist and contribute to overall better health management.

With the ability to share information entire teams can monitor and support health outcomes through a single app. This is just one step in supporting the well-being of players.
